Our manufacturing process

Here is a quick summary of how BabyShield milk powder is made, in seven steps:

Milking: BabyShield is made with natural cow’s milk as its base, sourced from dairy farms in Australia. Milk is collected regularly and sent to the factory.
Mixing: Ingredients are mixed together with skim milk. Minerals, vitamins and other ingredients are added at the appropriate time during mixing.
Pasteurisation: The mixture is pasteurised: quickly heated and then cooled. This destroys bacteria, yeasts and moulds and helps prevent the product from spoiling.
Homogenisation: The product is mixed again in a process called homogenisation, which gives the emulsion uniformity and stability.
Standardisation: The product is standardised to make sure its components are correct.
Packaging: The product is filled into cans that have been sterilised, ready for dispatch.
Distribution: Before distribution, health and quality checks are carried out on the product, and the required export documentation is obtained for each export shipment.
